Excellent video. Although I'm not usually happy with videos as presentation material (can't grep a video any more than a dead tree), I'm impressed that you've managed to pack so much information into an hour of video. Perhaps you could add times to the script file, so that one can rewind to the right place in the video?

Ryan has done a great job on preparation, and Leanna for the voiceover. I sincerely hope you recover the investment you've made here, as there are obviously many hours of work involved.

I have a small project to build in a short time, and this has definitely saved me many days of research - for a very modest price.

Hi Peeter!

Nah, it's good question! The ".dist" format is not important in any way - we just want *something* that we can commit to our repository. The file is not used in any way shape or form (other than serving as a template for the real file) and so could be named whatever you want. This is different, for example, thank something like PHPUnit, where a "phpunit.xml.dist" file has special significance. But in this case, there's no such importance.

I have a question that could sound silly but I want to clarify this, when you rename the file "parameters.ini" to "parameters.ini.dist", is there any reason behind the ".dist" suffix or not?

Thanks for the nice message and you're 100% correct. There was a backwards compatibility break in the Doctrine Fixtures library, which requires the exact change listed above (https://github.com/doctrine/da....

This is a good lesson on locking your vendors. We did not lock this particular vendor in this video, which means that we inherit and non-backwards compatible changes. You can lock the vendor to the version originally used on this video by changing your deps file to look like this:

version=v1.0.0-ALPHA1

I've found another small problem about the usage of @Route annotation in EventController's indexAction. You should give it a name.

@Route("/", name="event")

Without name property Twig's path function used to generate url to navigate back to event list does not work. This one:

Near to end when Fixture loader is finished it's not perfect. You need to add

use Doctrine\Common\Persistence\ObjectManager;

line to the top of file and maybe you should rename class to LoadEventsData. Now console task will run as expected.

Anyway this is a small notice. The video is GREAT!

you should delete the app_dev.php when you put your project on your public server, that's why the security check exists. The dev Environment includes too much information about your system to let anyone access it.

The video should be 1:01:52, and I've just double-checked to make sure that the download looks right. Is it possible that the download got interrupted so it looks much shorter than it actually is? If you continue to have issues, just let us know.

Edit: Nevermind, I see the issue. The video above is just a preview video - the full-length video is available for download after you've bought it.
